CAFE, Charity Awareness Fair and Expo, was created by Daniel Stein who recognized that the youth of today possess enthusiasm, drive, and a desire to help those around them. As head of Gearing Up for the Dominican Republic, a non-profit which delivers baseball equipment to underprivileged youths in the Dominican Republic, he saw the need to get young people in his community involved with local charities. By harnessing their desire to help those around them, Daniel believes that we can build a stronger community today and a brighter future for tomorrow.
After a successful event, he decided to expand the reach of CAFE by adding additional student organizers, targeting students from Elementary to High School, and adding an Advisory Board. Through his efforts the second annual CAFE had additional charities, restaurants, performers, sponsors, and MaryEllen Elia, Superintendent of Hillsborough County Public Schools, was the Honorary Chairwoman. Most importantly, however, the attendance for the second annual CAFE doubled from the previous year. Plans for the third annual CAFE are underway and the event has continued to grow.
